Ethnographic Collection- Regional
The collection comprises objects that were intensively collected and donated from 1962 to 1986 in the territory of Rovinj and Rovinjsko Selo, in addition to items recently donated during the work on the exhibitions Granny Fuma's Chest of Drawers and Granny Fuma's Kitchen. The collection keeps growing owing to the donations of Rovinj's families from Rovinj and Italy.
The collection encompasses objects related to fisheries, shipbuilding, agriculture, crafts, home decor and furniture, fashion, cuisine, beliefts etc., mostly dating from the mid-nineteenth to the mid-twentieth century.
The process of reorganisation of collections of the Department of History and the Department of Ethnography is currently underway. This collection will be made into several new ones dedicated to particular activities important in shaping the identity of Rovinj and its lifestyle.
